Hundreds of people volunteered in Norwalk cemeteries Saturday to honor military veterans as part of an annual tradition.
Organizers say the volunteers placed nearly 3,000 flags at St. John's Cemetery and another 2, 500 at other seven other cemeteries in Norwalk.
The effort is meant to honor the sacrifice the men and women gave to the United States and make sure they have a new flag on their headstone for Memorial Day.
The event was sponsored by King Industries.
Members of the Norwalk community also planned to recognize veterans Sunday with the Shea-McGrath Memorial Ceremony at Calf Pasture Beach.
