Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson announced this summer
she would not be seeking a sixth term – paving the way for two newcomers with
some proven experience in the town.
Democratic
candidate Tara Ochman has been on the Darien Board of Education and chaired the
Board for several years. She says she wants to focus on local business,
downtown development and infrastructure.
"I
do think I bring the leadership and experience to put a vision in place…” says
Ochman. “I think we're really on the precipice of deciding which way to
turn."
Republican
candidate Monica McNally has been on the Representative Town Meeting and
chaired the RTM Public Works Committee.
She's
currently a member of the town's Board of Selectmen and says
flooding is a key issue the town is facing.
Both
candidates say they plan to ease the burden on taxpayers.
McNally
will be at The Goose on the Post Road Tuesday night to watch the results.
Ochman will be at nearby Louie's.
