Wafu Asian Bistro in Southport voluntarily surrendered its liquor license after a man was shot last month.
Fairfield police confirmed Wafu Asian Bistro in Southport has voluntarily surrendered its liquor permit.
The permit was suspended by the state after a man was shot during a party at the restaurant June 19.
The sign has since been removed from the the restaurant.
Officials say the owners of the restaurant had been working with promoters to turn the restaurant into a club after hours.
Some community members say they feel a sense of relief and officials say a new tenant is reportedly moving into the building.
