Warm weather brings mosquitoes to CT
Experts are warning Connecticut residents to take extra precautions early this year against mosquitoes, thanks to this year's warm winter.
The appearance of mosquitoes comes earlier than Connecticut is used to. According to Dr. Ted Andreadis, head of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, southwestern Connecticut is hit particularly hard with mosquitoes, especially along I-95 between Greenwich and New Haven.
Andreadis says the insects are showing up near marshy areas, storm drains, catch basins, used tire casings and junk yards.
Residents are advised to use insect repellent if they are planning to spend an extended amount of time outdoors.
