A large water main break in Trumbull has shut off service for homes and businesses as Aquarion Water Company worked on repairs along Route 111.

The company said water was turned off so crews could fix the break, which may leave customers without service for several hours. Officials estimated restoration by midafternoon today.

Drivers were urged to avoid Route 111 between Trefoil Drive and Spring Hill Road while construction crews make repairs. Significant traffic delays are expected for anyone who must travel through the area.
