A storm system making its way to southwestern Connecticut is packing some light snow before a changeover to a wintry mix and rain.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Fairfield and New Haven counties through early Tuesday morning.
Monday will see skies becoming mostly cloudy with temperatures rising into the lower 30s by mid-afternoon. Look for snow to develop in the afternoon, potentially changing to ice for a brief time then eventually turning to all rain overnight. Snow could accumulate 2-4 inches in some areas before the changeover, with lesser accumulations of 1-2 inches in areas further south.
Temperatures will rise on Tuesday, topping out around 52 degrees. The precipiation continues on Tuesday, with scattered rain showers during the day and then heavier rain toward the evening.
Wednesday will be partly cloudy with highs in the low-40s, and Thursday will be colder, with temperatures around 35 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
