Weston Road in Westport is back open following a deadly crash Sunday.

The road had been closed near Silver Brook Road for more than 24 hours.

According to police, a car hit a utility pole and caught fire around 1 a.m.

When police arrived on the scene, the car was fully engulfed in flames.

The driver was unable to escape. No one else was inside.

It's unclear which way the car was traveling, and there’s no word what caused the diver to hit the pole.

The victim has not yet been identified. An autopsy is scheduled for early this week.
