The Westport-based food company, Newman's Own, is calling on people to do acts of generosity in honor of what would have been Paul Newman's 100th birthday.
Paul Newman wore many hats during his time on earth and in Westport.
"Paul Newman was what millennials and Gen Zers would call a multihyphenate today. He was an award-winning actor, a prize-winning race car driver, a highly successful food entrepreneur," said Newman's Own Foundation CEO Alex Amouyel.
But perhaps the most important one of all might be the experiences he's provided those in need through his products.
"One-hundred percent of the profits and royalties made from the sale of Paul Newman's own products, the salad dressing, the pizza, the pasta sauce, go to the foundation in service our mission to nourish and transform the lives of children who face adversity," said Amouyel.
The town of Westport, where Newman made his own salad dressing, proclaimed Jan. 26 as Paul Newman Generosity Day.
t's been almost 17 years since Newman passed away on Sept. 26, 2008 but his company and foundation want his legacy to continue with the Acts of Generosity Challenge.
To take part, one must participate in an act of generosity, share to social media using #PaulNewmanGenerosityDay and then tag someone, challenging them to do an act of generosity, too.
