A Westport college student is calling for chalk displays of solidarity for the Black Lives Matter movement all over Fairfield County.
Carolynn van Arsdale is a student at the University of Vermont, who says she was inspired by a similar movement in Burlington last week.
Van Arsdale posted to Facebook to encourage families in her hometown of Westport and surrounding communities to show solidarity with people of color by chalking the colorful displays onto pavements and sidewalks across southwestern Connecticut.
Van Arsdale says it's no accident she picked an activity that was easy to get the children involved in because everyone should have the chance to get involved in the conversation.
Those who want to get involved can post pictures of their chalk displays with the hashtag #chalkitupforblacklives.
