The Westport Garden Club is creating "Flower Friday" pop-up displays after it was forced to cancel its plant sale.
Members say it took World War II and Victory Gardens to pause the plant sale in Westport, but history repeated itself this year.
They say every Friday a temporary display will bloom in an undisclosed location. The first pop-up display debuted in time for Mother's Day near the Saugatuck Congregational Church.
The club says it normally specializes in annuals, but perhaps "Flower Friday" will cultivate a new tradition.
Club leaders say with people spending time at home, there is a bumper crop of new gardeners and they’re invited to learn and connect on the club's Facebook page.
