Police said nine people are facing charges after two police chases ended in crashes in Westport.
It happened Monday morning, near the corner of Post Road East and the Sherwood Island connector.
Viewer video obtained by News 12 Connecticut shows the end of that chase.
Authorities said just before noon Monday, Fairfield police alerted Westport police of suspects trying to break into cars and garages.
Officials said a car was reported to be occupied by three males wearing masks.
When police located the car, the suspects fled the scene, striking a police car and injuring one of the officers.
The officer had to seek medical attention but is doing well, according to police.
The vehicle fled to I-95 but stopped between exits 17 and 18. Police said the suspects then tried to flee on foot but were apprehended.
A secondary vehicle, which police say was a stolen car, then passed through the same area and fled the scene.
Officials said two stolen vehicles and a handgun were seized.
Lt. Anthony Prezioso said residents should be vigilant.
"Take your keys for your vehicle inside with you, don't leave those in an unlocked car, certainly even if the keys are not in your car, lock your vehicles at night, lock your homes at night, an ounce of prevention really does go a long way in preventing a lot of these things," said Prezioso.
Police said they are still investigating other cars that may have been targets.
