A Norwalk man has been arrested by Westport police for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend while driving.
Denis Mora Blanco, 28, was pulled over on Saugatuck Avenue on Friday for driving without headlights and having a front bumper drag on the ground.
While speaking with Blanco, police noticed scratches on his face and blood on his clothing.
Police say a female sitting in the passenger seat, later identified as being in a relationship with Blanco, had significant injuries to her face and head.
An investigation revealed Blanco went through the victim's phone and discovered text messages he felt were suspicious.
After finding the messages, Blanco, while driving, assaulted the woman and refused to let her leave the car.
Blanco was charged with assault, strangulation and unlawful restraint.
He was unable to post his $15,000 bond and was transported to Stamford Superior Court on Monday.
