Westport officials sounded the emergency evacuation notice Sunday as a nor?easter wrecked havoc on the shoreline town. Town officials say residents may chose to evacuate their homes if they feel they are at risk. The Westport Senior Center is serving as a free shelter, offering food and overnight lodging. The powerful storm also brought in heavy winds and high waves on the shore, causing officials to close all beaches in Westport at 7 p.m. Fire officials also caution residents that flooding has shut down several local roads.
