This week's "What's Ailing You" looks at bunionectomies.
Joann Labs, of Stamford, suffered from a painful foot condition and underwent surgery to correct the problem. Labs says she had a bunionectomy performed to correct a bone that was growing sideways on her right foot. She says that surgery relieved her foot pain and has enabled her to wear normal shoes again.
Dr. Michael Clain, of Greenwich-based Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Specialists, says the surgery is often covered by insurance.
Labs plans to get her other foot operated on next week.
