In this week's "What's Ailing You," a woman says there is a lack of options when it comes to eating out for those who follow a vegan diet.
News 12 did some research and found out that strictly vegan restaurants are in fact rare in southwestern Connecticut and elsewhere. One way to find a restaurant that serves up strictly vegan food or has vegan and vegetarian options is to go to the "Vegan Connecticut" website.
Among those on the list are The Stand Juice Company in South Norwalk and Fairfield, Bloodroot in Bridgeport, Catch a Healthy Habit in Fairfield and So Good Vegan Café in Ridgefield.
Nutritionist Nicole Larizza, of Stratford-based Positively Nourished, says it is important to consume plenty of plant-based protein if you are following a strict vegan diet. This includes beans, legumes, nuts and seeds.
