April showers bring... May snow? Guess so!
Connecticut is in for some weather whiplash this week after waking up to record-low temperatures. A new low of 35 degrees was recorded in Bridgeport, breaking the previous record of 36 degrees set in 1977.
Normal lows for this time of year are closer to around 48 degrees.
We also got a dash of May snowfall in the early morning hours, even in areas further south along the Sound Shore. The last time snow was recorded in much of the region on May 9 was also in 1977.
Today started out with windy conditions under a mix of sun and clouds, but clouds are starting to build and we could see some showers with the chance for some flurries or wet snowflakes mixed in.
High temps for Saturday are struggling to top out around 47 degrees, but the wind chill is making it feel colder. Winds are NW at 15-30 mph.
It will be very cold overnight, with lows around 33 degrees. A freeze warning has been issued.
Conditions improve a bit for Mother's Day on Sunday, which will be partly sunny and breezy with highs around 60 degrees.
