(05/30/12) NORWALK - A Norwalk woman who police say was beaten with a pool cue is out of the hospital and recovering.

Police arrested the woman?s husband, 44-year-old Leroy Baxter, early this morning. They say Baxter's wife told him yesterday that she wanted a divorce. Baxter left the house for several hours, but came back later and allegedly attacked her with the pool cue as she slept. Neighbors called police after hearing the woman screaming.

Police say Baxter barricaded himself in the home and tried to kill himself. He was arrested and taken to Norwalk Hospital. He remains under surveillance.

Police say the couple's four kids, ages 20, 15, 13 and 5, were home at the time of the attack.

Baxter's wife required 50 stitches.
