A bombshell sexual trafficking lawsuit that forced WWE boss Vince McMahon out of his wrestling empire is now focusing on a Greenwich clinic.
In new legal filings, former WWE employee Janel Grant accuses a physical therapist at Peak Wellness on Field Point Road of sexually assaulting her while McMahon participated. Grant also accuses the clinic’s owner, Dr. Carlon Colker, of giving her “unmarked pills” and mystery “IV infusions."
“When Janel needed medical care due to Vince McMahon's sexual and emotional abuse, McMahon made her go to a clinic called Peak Wellness, where one of her abusers worked,” said Ann Callis, Grant’s attorney.
BOMBSHELL LAWSUIT
Grant stunned the sports world in January when she took on the most powerful name in pro wrestling. She accused McMahon and John Laurinaitis, another former WWE executive, of sexual abuse and sex trafficking. McMahon stepped down as WWE’s executive chairman shortly after.
“Because of the extreme cruelty, degradation, exploitation, and violence she was subjected to on an almost daily basis for more than two years, she now suffers from extreme post-traumatic stress disorder,” said Callis.
The case has gained added attention, thanks to a new Netflix documentary. McMahon has denied the accusations.
Grant’s lawsuit is now paused until December, as federal prosecutors pursue a possible criminal investigation.
“Janel deserves her day in court,” said Erica Nolan, an attorney representing Grant. “Janel deserves justice.”
GREENWICH CLINIC RESPONDS
Grant’s initial lawsuit did not specifically identify Colker or Peak Wellness. But a new legal filing on Tuesday confirms that they are the “Celebrity Doctor” and “Alternative Clinic” named in the suit.
Grant also accuses Colker of withholding her medical records because “they may prove that he and Peak Wellness were involved in McMahon’s abuse, exploitation, and violence against Janel. Additionally these records are key to whether Dr. Colker engaged in civil conspiracy, falsifying medical records, aiding and abetting fraud, RICO violations, RICO conspiracy, assault, battery, and/or breaches of fiduciary duty against Janel and could lead to additional legal actions against him.”
An attorney for Peak Wellness pushed back.
“Ms. Grant and her counsel have long-since received Ms. Grant’s electronic medical records in accordance with the law,” the clinic’s attorney, Frank Silvestri, said in a statement. “Any statement by Ms. Grant and her counsel that indicates otherwise is simply untrue.”
Silvestri had no comment about Grant’s sexual assault allegations. But in a previous legal filing, Colker accused her of a “smear campaign … in order to bolster her well-publicized allegations concerning alleged sex trafficking and sexual assault” by WWE.
Grant’s team suggested Tuesday that more lawsuits could be coming.
“There will not be a stone unturned in our pursuit of justice for Janel,” said Callis. “We won’t be intimidated.”
