A 15-year-old girl from East Hampton died Sunday after suffering an apparent medical emergency while paddleboarding on Crystal Pond in Eastford, Connecticut.
Officers responded around noon to a report of a person missing from a paddleboard on the pond, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Environmental Conservation Police.
Witnesses told investigators they saw the teen experience an apparent medical emergency before falling into the water.
A good Samaritan who went onto the pond to help was able to recover her from the water, police said.
Once on shore, emergency personnel provided medical treatment before she was transported to Day Kimball Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
The incident is under investigation by Environmental Conservation Police.
