Two people were killed in a car fire on the Merritt Parkway this morning between Westport and Fairfield.
Officials say they were called to the scene, between exits 42 and 44, on a report of a grassfire. When they arrived they found the burning car with two people still inside.
Police say the driver somehow lost control of the car. They are conducting a full investigation.
Emergency crews and police remained on the scene, delaying northbound traffic until the early afternoon.
One firefighter was injured while fighting the blaze. Officials expect to release more information about the accident by Monday.
