2 rescued following head-on collision in Shelton

The fire department tells News 12 when they arrived, one of the cars was hanging off the guardrail. The vehicle was starting to slide down an incline.

The Shelton Fire Department says they rescued two people from their cars after a head-on collision trapped them inside their vehicles. 
The accident happened at around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday on Leavenworth Road near Indian Wells Road. 
The fire department tells News 12 when they arrived, one of the cars was hanging off the guardrail. The vehicle was starting to slide down an incline.  
According to the fire department, crews had to stabilize the vehicles. Once they were stabilized, they were able to rescue both occupants using hydraulic tools and saws to get to them. 
The patients were transported to the hospital for treatment. 
Shelton police are investigating what caused the accident.
