Two Stamford teenagers are holding a fundraiser this evening in an effort to provide every city residence with a smoke alarm. Trinity Catholic High School juniors Matt Kaishian and Cody Zaro are calling the project SAFE, meaning Smoke Alarms For Everyone. They started the campaign after a house fire killed three young girls and their grandparents on Christmas morning. Kaishian says he used to live in that same house on Shippan Avenue, a connection he says moved him to action. "We need to make sure everybody has working smoke detectors so they know when something's going on," says Zaro. Organizers will be collecting donations at school events, starting with this evening's hockey game against Stamford High School.
