The stroke of midnight not only rang in 2007 but it also brought the state of Connecticut a bunch of new laws that are now in effect.
One new law will put more money in the pockets of some workers across the state. Connecticut?s minimum wage was increased to $7.65, which is a 25-cent jump in the span of one year. All workers are welcoming the new minimum wage rate. However, one state representative feels more effort should go to affordable housing and lowering electric rates.
Meanwhile, another new law that went into effect is the elimination of the 20-percent surcharge on the state corporation tax.
