Sen. Richard Blumenthal is pushing for new federal gun legislation in memory of K.J. “Noodles” Johnson, who was shot to death on Olive Street in Bridgeport on March 7.

Blumenthal said Bridgeport's first homicide of the year has proved the need for stronger legislation and common-sense gun violence prevention measures.
He said Johnson, 18, is a prime example for the cause.

“A really impressive young man and I know from having talked to 'Noodles' mom how deeply painful this is for her,” said Blumenthal. “In his memory, I will be fighting for stronger gun violence prevention."
Blumenthal is also urging Congress to close "glaring loopholes” in federal laws that allow dangerous individuals to purchase and own firearms.
