New Bipartisan infrastructure grants will bring upgrades to Norwalk railroad crossings

The Connecticut Department of Transportation and state officials announced a series of federal grants for rail improvements across Connecticut, some of which will update Norwalk railroad crossings.

The state will conduct a study to help plan the next steps to improve safety.

The goal is to potentially eliminate track crossings or any crossings that pose a danger to drivers and pedestrians.

Over $2.4 million will go toward studying alternatives to crossings at places like Metro-North's Danbury Branch in Norwalk and Danbury.

The state also announced funds to increase services to the Hartford Line, from New Haven to Springfield, Massachusetts.
