While the Oxford community continues rebuilding, one homeowner says she feels helpless.

After Randi Marcucio's home was destroyed by floodwaters this past August, the town deemed the property a "dangerous site," granting her a certain amount of time to have the property demolished.

“God forbid something else occurred down this waterway," Marcucio says. "I wouldn’t want to see the remnants of the home damaging anything further down."

The single mother claims she had been working with a company that was going to graciously demolish her property for free, but after several months of waiting, the town claims it couldn’t wait any longer.

“I feel blindsided," Marcucio says. "The town is doing what they have to do, and I can appreciate that. I just maybe wish there was more communication."

Marcucio will now have to pay for the demolition, the town says, adding to her growing list of expenses.

“To drive by and just see a dumpster being filled with our crushed everything without any notification," Marcucio says. "It's just heartbreaking."
