Thousands of people will be at concerts, fireworks and air shows across the island this weekend.

Officials are working to make sure everyone is safe while enjoying the shows.

At the Catholic Health Amphitheater at Bald Hill in Farmingville, staff are getting ready to host thousands Friday for Freedom Fest. The free, ticketed event will feature a performance by country artist Brett Young.

"We're going to have cooling stations. We're going to be handing out free water. I know EMS is going to be all over the venue and we're going to have all the first responders here ready to go," says program director and morning show host of My Country 96.1.

Organizers say if you're coming to the event, it's crucial to stay hydrated, wear light, loose clothing and bring sunscreen.

"We are allowing it in a sealed, unopened bottle of water. We do not allow coolers inside the venue, but we are going to be handing out water is for free," says Phathead.

Over at Jones Beach, officials already have their safety measures ready to go for the fireworks and air show this weekend.

"We have hydration stations so that you can get water. We have showers on the beach front, and you have the Atlantic Ocean. You can go in, get clean, cooled off," says George Gorman, New York State Parks regional director for Long Island.

The beach was packed on Thursday with people grabbing waters nonstop and ambulances on standby.

"We have increased it to make sure we take care of anyone if they have any medical issues," says Gorman.

At Jones Beach, people will also go through security as they enter the boardwalk.
