Police have identified the man who died during a construction incident in Putnam Valley.

It happened Friday evening around 5 p.m. at a home on Park Drive in the Town of Putnam Valley.

News 12's Jackie Gillis at the scene Friday.

Police had initially reported that they responded to a report of a person who had been run over by a skid steer.

However, they currently say there is no indication the person was run over, as initially believed and reported.

Officials say 56-year-old Joseph Petti was operating a construction vehicle when he fell and hit his head.

Petti was found deceased at the scene.

Police say it appears to be accidental, but it is under investigation.
