Fishermen from around southwestern Connecticut braved the rain Saturday to participate in the 27th annual WICC Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth.

The two-day fishing competition began at Captain's Cove in Bridgeport, where participants vied for the heaviest catch of the day. Residents paid $37 to register for the tournament. Prizes for the largest catch go up to $50,000.

The competition ends Sunday at 5 p.m.
