28-year-old man identified as fatal Bridgeport shooting victim

Bridgeport police say they're investigating a deadly shooting that led to a car crash Sunday afternoon.

A 28-year-old man has been identified as the man killed in a Bridgeport shooting.
The incident happened Sunday and marks the city's 24th homicide of 2020.
DaJuan Simmons, of Bridgeport, died after police discovered he had been shot several times in the head and body before crashing his car on Wood Avenue around 3:15 p.m.
Police say gunshots were reported near 644 Norman St. Sunday afternoon and that responding officers found Simmons inside the crashed car in front of 178 Wood Ave.
Officers say they had to break the window of the vehicle to gain access, and that Simmons was unconscious inside.
Simmons was treated at the scene then transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center where he died shortly after.
Detectives say they are working to establish a motive for the shooting.
