The Bridgeport Fire Department honored two of its own Monday at St. Ann's Church.
The department has held a memorial service every year since the passing of Lt. Steven Velasquez and firefighter Mitch Baik in 2010.
Officials say Velasquez and Baik died of smoke inhalation while battling a house fire on Elmwood Avenue.
They say the men became trapped inside the house as they searched to make sure no one was inside.
According to fellow firefighters, not a day goes by that they don't mention their names, or say something they did, and they are missing them more as each year goes by.
The names of the two fallen men have also been put on a fire engine as a way to honor their sacrifice.
Firefighters say they hold the service each year to provide a sense of comfort to the families of their fallen brothers, and to remember the men they were.
Baik's daughter was recently awarded a scholarship in his name, which will help her attend college in the fall.
