At least eight people are displaced after a house fire in Bridgeport Wednesday.
The fire happened at a multifamily home on Putnam Street around 3 a.m.
The fire started on the porch on the second floor and spread above it.
The assistant fire chief says everyone made it out of the home safely before crews got there.
He says those inside the home were alerted by smoke detectors that the fire department installed just a few weeks ago through their
sleep safe program.
The American Red Cross is helping those displaced.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
