The man Bridgeport police say bludgeoned and cannibalized a homeless man was arraigned today. During the arraignment, a judge ordered that 35-year-old Tyree Smith be placed under psychiatric evaluation and suicide watch. Smith is accused of killing 43-year-old Angel Gonzalez with an ax and then eating parts of his body. Family members refrained from courtroom outbursts, but told News 12 Connecticut that they hope he'll be sentenced to life in prison. Smith is due back in court Feb. 14.
