Life at Amity High School in Woodbridge slowly started getting back to normal Friday as students and staff mourned the loss of a beloved hockey coach.
Former New Haven Police Officer Robert Fumiatti, who worked as an assistant coach and motivational speaker at the school, died suddenly this week at the age of 35. His passion was to show students that negative situations could be turned into positive ones. He used his experiences as a police officer to describe the harsh reality of gun violence. Students and staff members say he had a big heart.
Fumiatti leaves behind a wife and three kids. He will be laid to rest on Saturday.
