A car fire on Clarence Street in Bridgeport is now being called arson by Bridgeport's fire marshal, who says the car was stolen.
Nearby neighbors were woken up early this morning by alarms and fire trucks, and fire officials say clouds of smoke could be seen from miles away.
According to Bridgeport Battalion Chief Manuel Firpi, the 1997 Honda Civic was a stolen vehicle that was stripped for parts and then set on fire. The fire then spread to an abandoned home. No injuries were reported.
Police have not yet identified the owner of the vehicle or the suspect who started the fire.
