? Artists are putting the final touches on an enormous project taking place inside Sacred Heart University?s new chapel.
Father Marco Rupnik and his team of 15 artists from Europe cut hundreds of thousands of stone pieces to create enormous mosaics on the chapel walls, which depict images of the life of Christ. The piece came together in only 12 days.
?We have done this with joy ? with enthusiasm, so I think it's good,? Father Rupnik said.
With the mosaics complete, construction crews will now begin the chapel?s final construction phases. The new main chapel will seat 500 people, while the small chapel will serve another 75.
The university expects to dedicate the chapel next spring.
