Authorities: New Fairfield man turned off power to apartment, interfered with 'vital' medical equipment

Police discovered that the person living in the apartment needed to use medical equipment powered by electricity to maintain their health and that Giovanni Grillo had expressed he wanted the person to vacate the apartment.

State police say a New Fairfield man intentionally turned off the main electrical supply to a home where electricity was medically necessary for the resident.
On Wednesday, troopers and New Fairfield police responded to an address for a report of an active disturbance. Upon their arrival, police say they learned Giovanni Grillo shut off the main electrical supply to an apartment located on the premises.
They also discovered that the person living in the apartment needed to use medical equipment powered by electricity to maintain their health and that Grillo had expressed he wanted the person to vacate the apartment.
Grillo informed police he had interfered with the equipment by shutting off the electrical supply to the apartment. Grillo additionally indicated to the officers that he was aware of the potential ramifications of his actions.
Grillo faces several charges including disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and assault of an elderly person.
He was held on a $20,000 bond and then transferred to the Department of Correction.
