The owner of a Norwalk bagel shop says he fought off two armed robbers early this morning.
Darren Monaco, owner of Village Bagels, says the two suspects broke through the shop's plate-glass front door, then used a long knife to try to break into his cash register.
Monaco says he used a 2-by-4 to fight the robbers off. He usually uses the piece of wood to push dough into the oven.
Police say the men fled and drove their red GMC truck to Bridgeport, where they left the truck and ran on foot. Police say they found evidence in the truck that ties the men to the bagel store.
The suspects have not yet been apprehended. Police say they stand about 5 foot 5 inches tall. They tried to hide their faces during the attempted armed robbery.
