The Better Business Bureau has a warning about three of the top scams last year that really caught people.

The first is people claiming to be from the IRS and threatening arrest if people don't pay. Bureau officials say the IRS doesn't do business that way.

In the second scam, the BBB says people are told they won a sweepstakes they didn't enter. According to the BBB, these unexpected prize scams ask people to pay fees for their prize.

In the third scam, victims get a call, email or letter saying they are qualified for government grants, but people have to pay a processing fee to get it, the BBB says.
