Sweeping changes could be coming to Connecticut's tax policy.

Lawmakers on the finance committee have voted to raise the income tax on the wealthy, legalize keno gambling and impose new sales taxes on lots of services including dry cleaning and laundry, golf courses, building inspection and accounting.

However, the overall sales tax rate would go down.

The committee working to close the budget gap says the overall tax increases would add over $1 billion this year and $800 million next year.

The plan is being slammed by GOP lawmakers, and still has to pass the house, senate and then be signed by Gov. Malloy.
