Senator Richard Blumenthal (D) is urging the Senate Judiciary Committee to summon Chief Justice John Roberts to "explain himself" amidst what he calls "an ethics crisis" in the Supreme Court.
Blumenthal's call comes following reports that Justice Samuel Alito flew controversial flags at his homes, similar to those displayed by Trump supporters on January 6, 2021.
Blumenthal emphasized that Justice Roberts, as the leader of the court, needs to address these concerns to Congress and the American people. He expressed concerns about the declining confidence in the Supreme Court due to perceived bias and corruption tolerated by Justice Alito.
Blumenthal suggested that Justice Alito should recuse himself from any cases involving former President Trump, and emphasized the need for the Supreme Court to adopt an enforceable code of conduct for Justices.
