A councilman from Staten Island is making some interesting claims about his borough that could forever change the Big Apple.
In an op-ed posted on a blog, NYC Councilmember Joe Borelli (R) suggests Staten Island residents might want to take a lesson from Great Britain, which decided earlier last week to leave the European Union.
He's citing a vote cast in 1992, when two-thirds of people on the Island voted to secede from New York.
In closing, Borelli says Staten Island has long felt separated from the rest of the boroughs.
