Bridgeport has a new fire chief today.
Mayor Joe Ganim appointed Richard Thode to serve as the provisional fire chief.
Thode has been with the department for 29 years, and most recently served as assistant chief.
Ganim also announced Lance Edwards will be hired as deputy chief.
Edwards previously served as the assistant fire chief in Stratford before retiring from that department.
