A Bridgeport barber was singled out Sunday for being "a cut above" when it comes to helping his community.
Tito Rodriguez is the owner of Tito's Barber Shop on East Main Street, which has developed a reputation for assisting people in need.
State and local leaders honored the business owner for giving free haircuts to the  homeless and for donating to a variety of local causes.
Rodriguez says during the holidays, he traveled across the region giving toys to families who couldn't afford to buy gifts.
Rodriguez says he also helps the community through an auto club he owns. Members of the club volunteer their time at local nonprofits and donate to families in need.
