Bridgeport is considering a crackdown on dirt bike riders invading neighborhoods following complaints by residents.
Violators would face a $1,000 fine for their first offense.
Longtime bike shop owner Rick Erickson thinks the punitive penalties could actually make the problem worse.
"Now they're going to run even more, so if they know that their motorcycle is going to get taken away, they're going to do anything and everything to evade the police," he said.
Tensions are at a boiling point, something that Erickson's son learned firsthand.
"An individual came up to him and pulled out a gun and went on a five minute rant," he said.
Right now, the Bridgeport City Council is beginning to look at the idea of developing a park for dirt bike riders.
