The frigid cold invading southwestern Connecticut calls for heavy winter coats, and now some needy families in Bridgeport are getting some help all because of a major fire.
On New Year's Day, a fire burned a condominium complex on Charles Street to the ground, leaving about 125 people displaced.
The victims of the fire received such a great number of warm clothing that the additional items are being donated to those in need.
The next coat distribution will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at Saint John's Episcopal Church.
