Bridgeport police say the man responsible for a home invasion last month appeared before a judge on Wednesday.
Investigators say Derrick Williams, of Bridgeport, was captured on camera breaking into a home on Exeter Street Nov. 30. They say the 19-year-old forced his way into the home and pistol-whipped a man while his family was held at gunpoint.
Officials say a paintball gun and a belt were the only things taken, and both items were valued at less than $100. They also say the suspect admitted to dealing with addiction-related issues.
Police say their fugitive task force worked around the clock for days to make the arrest possible. The suspect allegedly changed his appearance after the incident by trimming his beard and cutting his hair.
Williams' bond was set at $350,000.
Police tell News 12 that they plan to soon arrest Williams' two accomplices.
