A fundraiser was held in Bridgeport Sunday for a senior citizen who is stuck in the hospital.
Rosemary Stancill, 76, is staying at the Northbridge Care Facility on Main Street after she fell and broke her leg in March. She also suffers from congestive heart failure and other serious health problems.
Stancill says she wants to go home but lives in a second-floor apartment and cannot get in without special accommodations.
A group of leaders have since joined together to help raise money for the great-grandmother to buy a residential chair lift so she can make it up to her apartment. Elected officials Tony Barr and Dennis Bradley are leading the charge.
"A woman of such energy and spirit, of such remarkable faith really deserves a little help, a little lift up the stairs so she can be in her own home,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
Stancill says she thanks God for sending her such wonderful people who care about her.
