A Bridgeport man is accused of leaving a small child in a parked car outside Bass Pro Shop Wednesday amid the extreme heat this week.
Police say the child was banging on the window and a good Samaritan broke it to get the child out.
Rubeidi Montero-Matos was arrested, charged and given a $50,000 bond.
The child was sent to the hospital to be evaluated.
Police say while at the hospital, the child's mother was arrested for a separate matter of failing to appear in court.
The medical staff said the child was in good spirits.
Connecticut State Department of Children and Families is involved in the investigation.
