A Bridgeport man was shot several times Friday night just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Sanford Avenue and Vine Street.

Police say 24-year-old Marquis Goethe tried running from the gunman, but was shot in the back and stomach several times. He was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

Neighbors say they heard the shots being fired, but ran inside and away from the gunfire. The shooting is under investigation by Bridgeport police, who ask anyone with information to please call 203-581-5201.
